Graduated compression helps move the blood up the leg thus improving circulation in general. Compression hosiery is generally used for the treatment of a wide range of conditions including varicose veins, edema (swelling), tired aching legs, lymphedema, prevention of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and the post-thrombotic syndrome. They are soft and comfortable, and semi-sheer. As a style-conscious woman, I was mortified when my Dr. said I had to wear these when teaching. I can honestly say that neither the students nor staff will be able to tell these are anything other than regular black tights. I fell on the border between two sizes, and I ordered up. A good decision or I would never get them on.
