It is better than sitting on a pillow ? So, far, yes. It is better than sitting on a tufted cushion? So far, yes. It is better than sitting on a seat enhancer which does not rebound when decompressed? So far, yes. But how much better than any of these when applied to a rather ordinary wooden chair? Not a lot. It needs to be thicker. It needs not to slide out from under so easily. And it definitely provides no support or cushioning to the back, as now constructed. But, even so, it might be worth about USD35 if it lasts 5 years without significant loss of function. Will have to see.

For me, this cushion worked very well. We have a new sports car and our first overnight trip showed that the seats, while very comfortable for cornering and short-term travel were not comfortable for day-long travel: the second day, I was constantly shifting my position to relief pressure on sore spots (FYI, I weigh about 175 lbs. on a 5' 10" frame). We already had a gel cushion and I had tried it but it made me sit too high, into the airflow over the windshield.
For our next, much longer, trip I used this cushion. I was comfortable for the four days of driving and just barely missed protruding into the slipstream. I do not have a complaint about the cushion shifting around. No, it did not stay in place when I got out of the car and, yes, I had to reposition it when I got back in but the cushion is not designed primarily for automotive use: if it were it would have either tie-downs or a non-skid bottom.
